Harold Codianne, OD
Dr. Codianne founded 1st Eye Care in Plano over 30 years ago. He is a graduate of the University of Houston School of Optometry and is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association. In the Fall of 2001, he earned the additional certification of Optometric Glaucoma Specialist.
He has been voted Plano Star Courier Reader’s Choice Best Optometrist in Collin County, and has received the Lion’s Club award for providing eye care to underprivileged children for 25 years. He welcomes difficult contact lens prescriptions such as high astigmatism, nearsightedness, Keratoconus, or eyes compromised by RK or laser surgery.
In his spare time, he is an active member of the Plano Rotary, as well as an active member of the community. He enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren, playing tennis, and traveling with his wife.
Brian D. Rast, OD
Dr. Rast is a 1994 graduate of Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon. He joined 1st Eye Care of Plano in June of 1994 after completing an internship at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Portland, Oregon. In the Fall of 2001, he earned the additional certification of Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. His primary interests and areas of expertise are primary care, contact lenses, and sports vision.
Dr. Rast has served as the President of the North Texas Optometric Society and is an active member in both the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association. He has conducted clinical research studies for both pharmaceutical and contact lens manufacturers and especially likes participating in pre-release contact lens studies so he can have a working knowledge of the newest technologies available. When he is not seeing patients, he lectures extensively at area schools and service groups.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife of 20 years and five children. He is active in the Boy Scouts of America, PTA, and is very involved with his church. He also enjoys family road trips, playing, watching, and coaching various sports (mostly the ones his children are involved with) and spending time with friends.
Shawn M. Kelly, OD
Dr. Kelly graduated in 1994 from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He joined 1st Eye Care in the summer of 1998 after graduating from Pacific University College of Optomerty where he was awarded membership in the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society.
Dr. Kelly focuses his efforts toward primary care optometry, the treatment of eye diseases, contact lenses, and was among the first optometrists in Texas to become fully licensed in the diagnosing and treatment of glaucoma.
Dr. Kelly has participated in research for contact lens companies, pharmaceutical companies, and contact lens solution companies.
Dr. Kelly lectures at schools, retirement communities, and has done presentations for large national corporations. He is an active member in The Kiwanis Club of Greater Plano and the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. He enjoys spending his free time at home with his wife, two children, and two dogs.
Kari A. Clark, OD
Dr. Clark graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science and then attended the University of Houston College of Optometry, graduating with honors in 2001.
Dr. Clark spent time at UT Medical School’s Hermann Hospital completing a retina externship and from there went on to study at a private optometric practice. She joined the 1st Eye Care team in 2001 as a Therapeutic Optometrist and is licensed in the State of Texas to diagnose and treat ocular disease. In addition, she earned the certification of Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. Dr. Clark is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association.
Dr. Clark is a native Planoite and graduated from Plano Senior High School in 1994. She always enjoys seeing familiar faces from her community.
Dr. Clark enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, singing at church, reading, and scrap booking.
