New Contact Lens Options for Patients Over 40

Once your near vision and ability to focus declines, you may find that you can no longer read and do other near tasks comfortably through your contact lenses. What do you do next? In the past, there were basically three options. You could discontinue contact lens wear and wear bifocal or progressive glasses, but who wants to give up contacts? Alternatively, you could continue wearing your contacts and use reading glasses over them, but it can be difficult to keep up with readers. The final choice is monovision, where a contact lens on one eye corrects distance vision and on the other eye corrects near. This option actually works very well for many people, but may not be best for more advanced presbyopes.

1st Eye Care Plano has the solution for you! For most prescriptions, bifocal contact lenses are an option and are available in gas permeable, soft yearly, and soft disposable options. Ask your doctor if you are a good candidate at your next exam!
